Tour This Relaxing, Soulful Home in The Netherlands

Hey there friends, it’s Monday and today we’re taking a little trip to the Netherlands to peek in on the home of Dutch Interior Stylist Roos Eldering in her signature warm, cozy colors. Roos (on Instagram @elderingroos) specializes in vintage finds and “soulful styling” as she puts it and I rather like that phrase, “soulful style” since it calls to mind rooms that feel like home the instant you walk in because there is a soul there. In a soulful style, I imagine rooms that are more lived-in with rustic and vintage touches, filled with personality and character, and are as authentic as the owner. A home that carries a story. Do you imagine the same? Let’s see Roos’ home and learn more about her life and style. Ready?

To create a nice post but also a quick read for you today, I’ve asked her some questions so you can easily learn about Roos and her style, life and work. Ready to follow along?

My Husband Daniel, Me (Roos) daughter Lotte (7), son Pepijn (4,5) and our 2 cats Lieve and Wiesje.

How would your describe your style?

A vintage and nonchalant home, unique and personal. Soulful with a lot of love for details.

What does home mean to you?

A reflection of my soul, where we feel at ease, kids can play. It’s my happy place!

What do you love most about your home?

The feeling that it gives me, that it tells our own personal story because of all of the hand-picked and handmade items we love that fill the space.

What would you like to change?

I would love to renovate the bathroom one day, add more garden space… I’d love to own a small farm some day. We live near the beach so whenever we need some wide, open views we go there. We feel blessed to live close to the beach.

Favorite thing to do at home?

Just chill and enjoy the atmosphere.

I’m not so good with plants (haha), so there are fewer and fewer plants here in the house. But I love dried grasses and flowers. And my favorite fresh flowers are sweet peas.

Utrecht, I went to school there, it’s a big city with the feel of a small town. A lot of cozy bars and nice shops. There is also a nice concert building (Vredenburg) where good bands perform.

I love the room spray from Bridgewater called Sweet Grace.

Favorite meal to cook and why?

Cold pasta salad with pesto. Easy, tasty and the kids love it too.

We love to invite friends over, usually in the garden, where we light the wood burner, drink a beer or a glass of wine and listen to some music and talk the whole evening. We also love to sit at the dining table and drink and talk all evening too. Sometimes we play some games together.
