Vintage Fashion + Textile Show, July 10, Sturbridge, MA

Thought I'd spread the word in advance for those that need to make travel arrangements... Don't miss this!

What: Vintage Fashion and Textile Show

Why: Why not? Known for its diversity, this pre-Brimfield show boasts over 150 booths with dealers from 20 states and 6 countries and is so much more than a showcase for vintage clothing and a large variety of fabrics. Being a particularly artful and artistic group, these experienced dealers have demonstrated their resourcefulness by displaying unexpected treasures that fall into a much broader version in the "field of textiles," actually overlapping and many times falling outside of their category altogether - yet standard at this event. Most of the exhibitors are antique dealers year-round who make a special effort collecting for these shows.

The Shows reputation, according to one shopper who flew from Japan, is 'the best vintage event in the world.' The Boston Globe says, "The Aisles of the Vintage Fashion and Textile Show may offer a window into the past, but it also can be a look at the sartorial future. It's here that major design houses come to find inspiration for "new" looks which sometimes become the next big trend. It's also where more and more vintage fans are coming to stock up."

Scout for vintage clothing, costumes, drapes and fabric, matching finds such as lamp shades, folding screens, theatrical backdrops, and decorative furniture. You can also score lots of quilts, fabric, buttons, vintage jewelry, old wallpaper, samplers, sewing items, needlepoints, antique fans, trimmings, drapery hardware, brocades, laces, beaded purses and ephemera.

Where: Held indoors, Host Hotel, Route 20 in Sturbridge, MA.

When: Monday, July 10, 2006. Admission price varies depending on your time of arrival. Obviously, for the best selection, the early bird gets the worm, or in this case, the silks, brocades, damasks... 9:30 AM - 10:15 am $20, 10:15 am to 11 am $10, 11:00 AM to 5:00PM $5.00 admission.

Don't miss it!
