How I Helped My Client Create Her First Online Course

Today I’m celebrating a huge milestone for my Atlanta-based client, Cathleen Smith, who officially launched her very first online course: Spice Up Your Life: An Inflammation Reset Using Herbs & Spices.

When Cathleen first came to me, she had a powerful idea and deep expertise. She’s a lawyer who studied culinary nutrition and wanted to teach people how to use herbs and spices to reduce chronic inflammation since she literally changed her life by applying her own knowledge. What she didn’t have yet was a clear plan on how to launch a course, the structure of a digital program, or the understanding as to all of the steps to get from zero to launch. That’s where my role as as a business mentor and consultant came in.

From Idea to Online Course

We began by clarifying the heart of her offer. What was the transformation she wanted her students to experience? Who would be her future students? That’s when she got busy and shaped a promise that was clear, approachable, and inspiring: a practical anti-inflammatory course that would help people feel better naturally using everyday ingredients.

From there, we mapped out everything from course platforms to Meta ads, the importance of specific steps she shouldn’t miss, her modules, and positioned her content in a way that made sense for a first-time course creator, pricing, and so on. Each week since May, I watched her confidence grow as she moved from uncertainty to clarity, from hesitation to excitement, and in 4 months - the entire course was built and launched yesterday! Wow!

Inside Spice Up Your Life

Cathleen’s new self-paced program teaches you how to grow, cook with, and benefit from nine essential anti-inflammatory herbs and spices, including turmeric, ginger, garlic, and cinnamon. To make it actionable, she created forty-two everyday recipes, step-by-step gardening guidance, and beautifully designed plant profiles and resources. Students also receive lifetime access, which makes it a flexible and lasting investment.

This isn’t just another nutrition course - it’s an inflammation reset designed to be simple, doable, and genuinely life-enhancing. She lost 45 lbs following her own advice and feels much more energized and optimistic. And at an introductory price of $197, it’s accessible for anyone who wants to start feeling better right now. That’s the cost of a concert ticket these days in nosebleed seats, or a Target run. Certainly, feeling great and fitting into your favorite outfit is worth way more!

Why This Launch Matters

As a consultant and mentor, nothing excites me more than helping a client go from zero to launch. For Cathleen, this wasn’t just about building an online course. It was about stepping into a new role as a guide and educator, blending her background in law and nutrition into something meaningful and sustainable.

Watching her go from “How do I really even do this?” to proudly pressing publish on launch day is exactly why I love this work. It’s not just about sales pages and modules, it’s about transformation, both for the students who take the course and for the creator who took the time and energy to share their wealth of knowledge.
