THE EYE: Cultivate Your Interior Styling & Creative Vision

I'm so thrilled to finally share a very special project that I’ve been pouring my heart into behind the scenes, a journey that actually began right here in my own home in Europe where I’ve lived for 17 years (for those who don’t know me, I’m American). My inspiration grew from my experience living in my current altbau, which for those reading outside of Germany, is a classic pre-war apartment known for its history and architectural character. Built in 1901, my home spans 230 square meters across eight expansive rooms plus a balcony and two wintergartens (similar to a three season porch). I love the 3.70-meter ceilings adorned with intricate stuck molding in the front of the house. The living room ceilings even showcase beautiful white beams (shown below) surrounded by what appears to be carved tiny chestnut leaves with chestnuts… And herringbone wood floors that are original to the house. The whole space breathes beautiful light through all of our large windows, too. We’re on the 2nd floor (American 3rd floor), which means we get a lot of natural light all year round.

When I first moved into this incredible space, I saw it as a blank canvas to decorate, but over time, living with the shifting light and historic details taught me that a home actually teaches you how to see. What I mean is that even though I’m an interior designer, I’m also American and had never experienced living in this type of home before. I didn’t really know how to decorate it - something that I quickly realized when I first moved in back in 2010. Massive ceilings and windows also meant special sizes for drapes (or none at all in some rooms). No built-in closets meant buying the closets and deciding on everything from dimensions and location. No laundry room meant stacking a washer and dryer in the bathroom. Old radiators in each room meant losing some wall space. No A/C meant learning how to keep the place cool in the summer, which can be over 85 F and quite oppressive at times. Stone walls meant learning how to use an electric drill for even simple tasks like hanging a mirror. Let’s just say I had a lot to learn coming from a small (but newly renovated) 1876 carriage house back in the states!
My apartment has taught me that styling is about deep awareness, learning to trust your instincts, and noticing what moves you on a soulful level. It also taught me that not everything IS possible, and some things just can’t be done! I realized that true beauty comes from what feels honest, layered, and deeply personal, rather than polished for someone else's approval, too.

This profound shift is one reason why I’m officially launching THE EYE on June 1st, a five-month intimate studio experience centered around interior styling, self-expression, and making our homes unapologetically personal. This isn't a design course - it’s a living, breathing studio space designed to help you find your unique voice and vision whether you’re into styling or not - it’s more focused on living your best, most, beautiful creative life. Finding your voice again.

Over our five months together, we'll dive into a shared creative journey that bridges the gap between your home environment and your inner creativity.

Art Journaling - Keeps Me Creative

THE EYE unfolds through a gentle monthly progression.

Our Summer season together opens you up to the very things I’ve covered in my four books and my previous magazine - all the things that I’ve loved and used in my life to develop my creativity… fresh flowers, flea markets, art journaling, collecting, photography, sensory noticing, and visual play. During Autumn, we’ll turn more inward toward mood, home, materials, painting, forming collections, styling, and creating rooms that feel more fully your own. I may even take you with me to a beautiful ceramics studio where I love to work here in my city on things that I build by hand and later use to decorate my home.

Each month features a new central topic supported by instructional videos, engaging projects suited for different skill levels, and downloadable materials to guide your practice.

We'll also connect deeply through monthly audio files, one live call per month (first Thursday of each month), a dedicated forum, and special guest drop-in videos.

But DO NOT WORRY. This isn’t hard or stressful at all. It’s a gentle, creative studio meant to awaken different parts of your personality, and show you some interesting new ways to approach your creativity and projects. You can also use everything that I teach you to teach to others.

We begin our journey together on June 1st.

If this feels like the creative space your heart has been looking for, I would be absolutely honored to welcome you inside THE EYE and see all the beautiful, authentic spaces we'll create together.
