Photo Competition For Interior Lovers: #BeingAtHome

Hello everyone, I have an exciting announcement to make about a photo competition that I’d love to see YOU enter! ! I am on the jury for a very exciting competition which has been organized by #Zuhausesein, an initiative by the German Furniture Industry e.V. (VDM) here in Germany. This competition is global so anyone can enter (yeah!) AND it combines two of my favorite things – photography and design! No wait, three things… Photography, design and imm Cologne!

Once the panel of judges (me included!) consider all of the entries, the winner will be chosen at a later day and each winner will be brought to Cologne (two tickets plus one overnight stay with a 500 Euro travel allowance for flight or train) for the imm Cologne fair in January 2020 where the winning 10 photos with the names of each winner be on display in a very prominent location at the fair. PLUS your photo will appear in a book called, “German Design 2020” that will publish at the enter of year by the VDM where you will, of course, be credited.

Submit your favorite piece – handcrafted, designed or vintage – for a chance to win $15,000 USD, a dazzling Etsie trophy, and more.

The Etsy Design Awards

The Awards will highlight the highest quality items found on Etsy and celebrate the talented people behind the winning products. With the help of a panel of 7 celebrity judges - including me, Garance Doré and Sophie Robinson, among others, one Etsy seller will be crowned the Etsy Design Award Grand Prize Winner, while five others will be named Etsy Design Award Winners in each featured category.

Win £3,000 Worth of Products From Amara Living

It's Autumn, are you ready to redecorate? I am! That's why I'm so excited to share such a MASSIVE GIVEAWAY with my readers today because ONE very lucky winner who comments below will receive £3,000 worth of stock from The Amara Own Collection from Amara Living (dependent on stock availability) and this contest is open WORLDWIDE. To celebrate the launch of their own label brand The Amara Collection for AW16, they wanted to collaborate with me to give decor8 readers a chance to redecorate for Autumn/Winter. Imagine winning £3,000 worth of products - your choice?! And entering is so easy, the directions are at the bottom of this post.

But first, a little about Amara Living. Co-founder Sam Hood has spent considerable time editing and curating a collection of brands which all appeal to the loyal Amara customer, she says, “My team and I have spent the past 11 years bringing together and successfully selling interior brands which we love and have a passion for. We have the knowledge of the industry and most importantly we know what our customer wants. The beauty of an online business is that we can see, in real time, the success of certain brands and products which has allowed us to react with speed to our customers’ needs. We’ve been able to highlight our customers’ buying trends and personal tastes which has in turn helped us to create a collection we know they will love and want to buy.”

By sourcing and co-designing pieces with some of the world’s leading craftsmen, each collection will embrace all that the Amara customer associates with the e-tailer; distinctive design, quality, timelessness, attention to detail and the most exceptional customer experience. Hood adds, “It’s been a great experience to work with some of the most talented and experienced people in the industry-I’m so pleased we’ve been able to bring together all of these beautiful pieces to create the new Amara Own Label brand. By combining our own expert knowledge with our chosen brands and manufacturers, my team and I have selected and created the very best pieces we know our customers will love to have in their homes.”

With each new season, the Amara Collection will share new collections that will embrace the latest trends. The season currently focuses on Fantasy, Heritage, Graphic and Luxe. You can visit their current look book here.

GRAPHIC - This monochromatic mix allows for shapes and patterns to take the spotlight. Sleek, modern geometrics and smooth materials.

FANTASY - A delicate mix of gentle grey tones and pastels, this look is feminine and elegant with contemporary details.

LUXE - Old Hollywood glamour inspired this look which mixes bold tones with lush texture such as silk and velvet. Luxe works well in urban dwellings and country hideaways by a cozy fire.

HERITAGE - This collection mixes glam with country. Rich colors and tones add warmth. Checks, plaids, furs and gold add a richness that is both classy and casual.

A Giveaway With Amara Living - To enter you need to do the following: 1. Comment below and tell us which is your preferred look from the collection (Heritage, Graphic, Luxe or Fantasy)

2. Follow @decor8 and @AmaraLiving on Instagram. When a winner is selected, we will verify the above before announcing.

A Giveaway With Atelier Sukha (Updated)

I love to decorate, especially with natural fibers like wood, wool, leather and linen. As a lover of Bohemian Style, Botanical Style and the whole Simple Living / Kinfolk  movement, I find Atelier Sukha a beautiful blend of all three to create a distinct global, yet paired back look that feels closest to the way I'd love to live (add to it, a beachfront house!). Sukha is a famous shop known globally as a must-see destination by decor enthusiasts when visiting Amsterdam, yet I was surprised to learn that their online shop isn't nearly as well known so I thought to team up with them to help them spread the word about their shop. The best way was for me to just open up a flash giveaway on my blog so some lucky person out there could have a chance at winning free beautiful things (your pick up to €150) from their online shop. Then you can bring this handmade, pure and simple style to your home too. AtelierSukha

sukma1To enter*, you need to do the following:

1. Comment below and tell us what you would like to have on the Sukha website.

2. Follow @decor8 and @ateliersukha on Instagram.

When a winner is selected, we will verify the above before announcing.

*This giveaway is open to readers located worldwide. €150 approximate $170 USD total value per winner. Do not leave your email or web address in the body of the comment, only in the allotted boxes. Our winner will be contacted by email and announced at the bottom of this post. Contest closes on Monday, June 20 at 5pm European Standard Time.

Good luck everyone!

Winner is: Julia/mammilade. Congratulations!

WIN! New Farrow & Ball Wallpaper

I'm such a fan of Farrow & Ball and I've really enjoyed working with them on campaigns over the years. As most of you know, I turn away work frequently because I don't work with just any interiors brand unless I really love and support what they do. Farrow & Ball is just a great company and they produce beautiful wallpaper and paint. Exquisite really. Half of the rooms in my home have F&B paints. I love their chalky, matte finish and gorgeous hues and that I'm not the only one in love... But that everyone who sees my home raves over the green-blue, very pale paint color in the nursery (Cabbage White) and my gorgeous gray in my dining room (Dimpse) that looks amazing against bright white trim work. Gray and blue-green paint colors are really hard to get right, as any decorator knows, so when you find a paint company that creates such perfect hues you become very brand loyal. Here are some of their patterns from previous collections... farrowandball_decor8_8 farrowandball_decor8_10

Their wallpaper looks stunning and works perfectly with their paints. I've not yet used their wallpapers, but dream of someday papering a wall in my home with one - for instance the wall behind my sofa in the living room. The wall is so big, so boring, so meh. I love the large-scale patterns in the new F&B 2015 collection. All of their papers are a more modern version of the vintage papers you see in old French and English homes - oh how much I love those! Here are some views of their new collection below, hot off the press!

To celebrate the new wallpaper collection for 2015, I asked them to make one of YOU a very lucky decorator and give you 4 rolls of wallpaper (valued at over $600/540€!) so you can do a small room or a feature wall somewhere in your home. What do you think about that? Oh, yeah! Please see below for details on how you can enter to win. But first, a glimpse of their new collection...

Here’s how to enter:

  • Visit Farrow & Ball and check out their wallpapers here.
  • Return to this post and comment below telling us what your favorite pattern is, and color, and how you would use it in your home.
  • Visit the Farrow & Ball Deutschland (German) Facebook page and also post your answer (in English or German) there and use hashtag #decor8 and add @decor8 to your post on their wall. You can LIKE their page too if you genuinely do, of course!

Note: You must be 18 years old or older to enter this giveaway. Winners receive 4 rolls of in-stock wallpaper, YOUR (the winner) choice of pattern and color, (A roll starts at $152/135€ however some rolls are priced at $181/160€, so the total prize value is over $600/540€) to be selected by winner no later than March 1st or else another winner will be selected. All wallpaper must be selected at once and can only be shipped to the winner. No exchanges or special requests. Wallpaper is for your personal use only and may not be sold online or in-store, or offered as a giveaway on your own blog. You may enter once daily until February 14th. One winner will be chosen via drawing and contacted by email so please use a valid email when you comment below but do not put your email address in the comment – use the appropriate boxes please. This contest is open to readers worldwide. You need to complete all of the steps above in order to qualify, unless you don't have a Facebook account, then commenting here will suffice.

Thank you Farrow & Ball, and good luck to all of you!

UPDATED: The winner is Maria from Villa Stoff. Thank you for entering everyone and congrats Maria!
